Dell 1815dn All in One Laser Printer Review

The Dell 1815dn all in one laser printer provides a value packed printing solution for home or office. The outer case is sleek but the printer weighs nearly forty pounds making this a compact addition to your office that requires a solid base to sit on. We appreciated the handles molded in to the back of the unit that made positioning a bit easier.

The 1815dn has all the necessary cables including USB that permits a one wire quick hookup to your computer. A generous 250 sheet capacity paper try allows you to print more and refill less. Dell offers a higher capacity 500 sheet paper try at additional cost the is recommended for high print volume situations. The 1815dn performed well in our printing tests and delivered up to 24 sheets per minute depending on print quality settings. The LCD readout is not full function but provides enough information including toner replacement or paper refill alerts.

The 1815dn laser printer comes with a 3000 page toner cartridge and is replaceable at a cost of around seventy dollars. The fax capabilities of the 1815dn are respectable and delivered high quality replication. The scan function on the 1815dn provides laser sharp black and white scans but our color tests revealed slight distortion. We like how the 1815dn provides a large button keypad to control both fax and scan functions. The Dell 1815dn is compatible with Windows, Linux, and Mac system. We purchased our 1815dn mfp for $500 and feel like most other Dell products we've reviewed that it delivers excellent value and performance for the price.

Dell Laser 1600n Printer – Fast, Multi-Function Top Performer

For around $600, you can get the multifunctional Dell Laser 1600n printer. This machine can scan, copy, fax, and print. It is like having a small office in your own home. It is even small enough to fit be placed on a desk. The Dell Laser 1600n toner will offer the professional results sought by all.

The machine can print 22 pages per minute. It also features a 50-sheet automatic document feeder you can use for the faxing or scanning. Networking using a standard Ethernet cable that is also present with this nifty device.

This laser printer is able to provide quality printing and scanning. However, when the device is connected to the network, it does not scan color documents. The faxing capability is limited, since the bundled software does not let you fax from the PC. You have to use the fax application found in Windows, but the information you have stored in the device's control panel cannot be retrieved.

The Dell 1600n printer was able to get one of the fastest scanning and copying results. Grayscale document scanning averaged three pages per minute, while six pages per minute for the color documents. As for its copying, it was able to do six documents per minute.

A 250-sheet paper tray is included in the package, however, you can also buy another tray, which you add on top of it making it a total of 500 sheets. The built-in memory is 32 MB, good enough for personal use, but will not be sufficient for an office. You can always buy additional memory for as low as $30.

The package includes a 3,000-page yield toner cartridge. A brand new toner of the same type costs around $70. However, a 5,000-page yield toner is also available for roughly $80. Getting this one will give an average printing cost of 1.6 cents per page, instead of 2.3 cents.

Additional memory can be added easily by opening the door on the device's left side. This design makes sure there are no complications when adding more memory. The automatic document feeder is something Dell has to improve. The power cord is too short for the lid to stay open. This flaw made scanning a large document very difficult.

An embedded web server lets you monitor the printer's status. This is a feature readily available when you connect this model of Dell printer to a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet network. Unfortunately, the software only supports Windows 95 or higher. If you have a computer running on the Mac or Linux operating system, you are out of luck as the device is designed for Windows operating systems only. In addition, the USB cable is not bundled with the printer. You would need to spend an extra 30$ for the cable. Plugging it to a PC through USB and installing its software and drivers is very easy. Even a child can install the utility software.

The Dell 1600n printer has a one-year warranty with a lifetime 24-hour technical support, which can be reached via phone or from their website. There is even an option to extend the warranty. A two-year warranty extension costs around $118. It covers the replacement unit and shipping, while you wait for your device to be repaired.

For this review, let us look at two entertainment/multimedia designed laptops that are competing at the same price range and with comparable features. These laptops are the Dell XPS M1530 and the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530.

Dell XPS M1530

Though it was tagged as a gaming platform initially, the XPS series became so popular that Dell ultimately turned its attention to the multimedia sub-niche of the laptop market. Dell Printer Drivers – How to Get the Latest Dell Drivers the Easy Way

Is your Dell printer driver out-of-date? Did you get a new computer and now need to re-install your Dell printer only to find that you lost the CD that contained your installation information? Well, you've come to the right place. We can help you with all your Dell printer driver needs.

A driver is a software program that aids your computer in running all the installed hardware and accessories. Without the appropriate driver, your computer wouldn't know if you're trying to run a printer or a modem or a digital camera. When you purchased your Dell printer, it came with a CD that contained your driver. After inserted, the driver installed onto your computer allowing you to run the printer.

Over time, it is necessary for drivers to be updated to ensure maximum efficiency. If they are not updated, you could experience a freezing of your computer or even unexplained crashes - not to mention that your hardware or accessory (such as a printer) can cease to function. A majority of the most frequently used PC applications have their own internal methods of staying up-to-date. Unfortunately, drivers that are for accessories do not have this function so it may not be easy to determine whether or not you have the most up-to-date version that your computer systems needs to properly function.

Obtaining the correct driver update can be time-consuming. While most manufacturers offer downloadable updated drivers via their websites, it is usually very difficult to wade through all the information they offer and, even then, you may end up downloading an incorrect update. The average computer user is unfamiliar with the technical jargon used on these websites which makes it difficult to match system specifications. In addition, through these websites, you may download one update, but you are never aware when the next update is released which requires you to constantly check the website for updates. It is a never-ending hassle and you have better things to do with your time.

This is why you should have driver update software. It checks your machine automatically for you with a quick and easy scan! If any of your hardware or accessory drivers need updating, it takes care of it for you. Never again will you have to search all over the Internet for the exact driver you need for every device on your machine.

Dell U2410 Monitor Review

The Dell U2410 Monitor is a very decent upgrade from Dell. Users will surely be attracted to this new Dell screen because it is a nice upgrade from the 2407 and 2408 versions. It was nice that Dell stuck with few things such as the many connectivity and ergonomic options. It was a very wise decision from Dell to incorporate those things. Plus, they also improved few things like the monitor responsiveness, input lag and viewing angles. They also throw in some extras like the new OSD style and 12-bit LUT for smooth gradients. Gamers will also love the 6ms response time which is great for displaying video and games without any ghosting or unwanted blurring.

Dell UltraSharp U2410 has lot of features that will make you decide to upgrade your CRT monitors. Some of its features are:

* Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture Multi-Views - This feature is also available in the Dell U2410 Monitor but if you plugged in DVI or HDMI you will only be able to choose VGA, DisplayPort, component or composite as the alternative source. You can't pair a DVI with a DVI picture, or an HDMI with a DVI picture. All other combinations should work fine without problem. The picture-in-picture options make it easy to do multitasking.

* Flexible Viewing and Mounting Options - This feature is perfect for those who usually do multipurpose things or activities with their monitor. It has height-adjustable stand and other features such as tilt, swivel and pivot.

* Intuitive Controls - The control buttons of Dell U2410 are touch sensitive. Just by moving your finger near it, the bottom blue LED will light up and all you need to do is to touch it to bring up the selection menu.

* Extensive Connectivity - The new Dell U2410 monitor offer 4 USB ports and a xD/SD/MS/MMC media card reader. Aside from that you can also add Dell Soundbar below the monitor panel as well.

* Color Calibration - You don't need to further calibrate the color because the Factory-tuned Adobe RGB and sRGB modes are already ok. People who are into photography, graphics editing and other image intensive work will surely find this monitor a very good choice.

* 8 Preset modes - This monitor also has 8 preset modes which are: Standard, Multimedia, Game, Warm, Cool, Adobe RGB, sRGB and Custom Color mode. The various preset modes and the custom color mode makes the Dell UltraSharp U2410 good for accurate color work.
