Zune 120GB Video MP3 Player – An iPod Touch Alternative

Microsoft's Zune 120GB Video MP3 Player can almost do everything that an Apple iPod touch can do (except for surfing the net). Bill Gates has made an impressive attempt to steal a slice of the media player with the launch of the Zune that has its own sets of unique selling points.

The Zune 120GB Video MP3 Player is 5.5" long, 2.4"wide and 1.8" thick, weighing at just 12 ounces. It has a 120GB memory and a huge 3.2-inch LCD (with a 320 x 240 resolution). Although the Microsoft model does not have an internet browsing feature, it can use wireless networks to remotely sync with your PC or laptop.

One of the unique features of the Zune 120GB Video MP3 Player is its FM radio tagging function. As you are listening to a FM radio station, you can tag the songs that you like to purchase them later when you sync the device with the your computer.

Another feature unique to Microsoft's media player is the Zune Pass subscription. With the price of one CD, the Zune Pass allows you have an unlimited downloads of music and albums from the Zune Marketplace.

The design of the Zune 120GB Video MP3 Player is another great selling point. Although Apple media players are very popular, there are some of us who do not find the design of Apple appliances very attractive. The Zune has a very sleek and sexy design with smooth, straight lines and minimalist features.

Zune users get a free software update every few months and the sound quality of audio playbacks is great. File transfer speeds of this little machine are also very impressive where I download over 2000 songs from my PC in just a couple of minutes!

Getting Audiophile Sound From Your MP3 Player

The modern stereo headphone set is a compact tool that allows you to get the most from your iPod or MP3 player. While traditional headphones provide clarity and response from home-systems, they are not designed for use with portable audio devices. To maximize the quality of sound from a digital audio player, you want headphones / earbuds that are made to be used with devices that put out less wattage than a home system. With the popularity in recent years of the iPod, portable headphones have become a niche-market unto themselves with different manufacturers pouring much money into research & development and marketing.

As with most advances in audio technology, these new earpieces provide for more and more of the experience of being in a concert hall without the inconvenience of interrupting your daily routine. Some of the most popular brands for the earpieces today are Etymotic Research, Panasonic, Shure, SkullCandy, Sony, and Ultimate Ears.

Earpieces for the serious audiophile

Most of our parents' and grandparents' portable audio devices had their own poor little sound amplifiers built in to make the sound loud enough for our hearing. Now days, you can get really high quality portable audio devices that don't mess with poor little sound amplifiers. Instead you can provide your own little cool head phone amp to turn your high quality little portable stereo system into a booming sound experience. The head phone amp is the latest in audiophile gadgets. They are a bit more to haul around than your old headphones and earpieces, but they provide a sound experience to make it all worthwhile.

Accessories for the serious audiophile

To get the most of your portable audio experience, you need a good portable audio accessory kit. You'll find that you are soon looking forward to all of those times that were once boring when you have a good accessory kit.

Even if you aren't taking your portable audio device along everywhere you go, you may want to take your earphones. A long airplane flight will be greatly enhanced when you have a pocket-sized earphone kit to plug in and watch the in-flight movie.

Your accessories should include cable clips. These keep your headphone cables all nicely organized so you are free in movement to do other things while you enjoy your own little concert hall experience. All audiophiles have had experiences where our cords hung on something and got ripped away, often taking other things with them.

A good accessory kit will also include replacement accessories to make sure a small malfunction or accessory loss doesn't ruin an entire day. You'll want a spare ear phone, spare jacks, spare ear pads, and spare cables. This is especially important if you've invested in a very expensive sound system and you don't want to be stuck with anything less than the best.

What goes in must be hygienic

Remember you are putting these headphones or earpieces in your ear for quite a while. You can get wax buildup and other things building up on them. Over time things can start growing cultures on your valuable sound device if you don't take due time for cleaning. If you love your audio, you must also keep your headphones and earpieces cleaned regularly with some cleaning solution or alcohol.

An MP3 Player Can Be Your Best Friend While Snowboarding

Music, who would have thought that just some simple notes for instruments and creative lyrics could help to alter people's mind sets or mood. Music has been in existence since the beginning of time and continually gets better and more definitive for every generation. Singers and songwriters can use it to help tell stories or help to set a certain tone for example in movies. As the audience, we respond differently depending on the genre of music we listen to or the atmosphere being listened in. Using your mp3 player while snowboarding is no different. It can help you relax so you can perform tricks easier or just help you concentrate in the competition you are about to compete in.

If you do not agree with this, just look how many professional athletes carry their portable music devices everywhere they go whether training or on a long flight or bus ride. Next time you walk down the street, notice how many people are listening the their "playlists" whether on their Ipod of from their cell phone. Music is everywhere, so why not use it while snowboarding to help calm you while carving the pipe or shredding the powder in the trees?

Everyone's taste in music is personally their own. I suggest the night before you go riding, load your mp3 player with various genres of music and see what your mind and body respond to the best while on the mountain. Different things help different people, so just because your friends are listening to hard rock doesn't mean that you can't listen to classical for example. This is why music players have ear phones, so they are personal listening experiences. I can almost guarantee that once you try snowboarding with music, you will never leave your player behind again.

However, as with many electronic devices, the batteries are sensitive to extreme temperature changes. Make sure your unit is fully charged before you go out, and try to keep it in the warmest area of your clothing. This will help ensure longer battery life, but also protect the player if you happen to wipe out. Many newer snowboarding jackets have built in pockets specifically designed for mp3 players. These pockets are easily accessible whether you have your gloves on or not, and the majority have head phone cord holders to keep your cord out of the way.

How Do I Go About Using My Mp3 Player In My Car

The mp3 player has now become a stable part of many people's lives. Not only are they small and versatile, but also they provide the user with hours of music listening time without having to keep changing CD's or tapes. But just how can I use my mp3 player in my car?

In this article we will look at some different ways that you can now use your mp3 player in your car and so no longer will you need to worry about carrying all your favorite CD's in the car in the future. Plus you have the added benefit of knowing that you can remove your mp3 player from your car and take it with you.

Nearly all mp3 players will have a port in which you connect your headphones. But in order for your to play your mp3 player in your car you will need to find a way of connecting this to the head unit using the headphone port. Below is one method that you may want to try.

Auxiliary In

This method will provide you with the best audio quality possible, in fact it is just about as good as the audio produced by a CD. Numerous head units (radios) in cars today have a front auxiliary input (known as the Aux-In) that allows you to plug directly from your mp3 player into the head unit. You will find that most Sony head units have this feature on all their entry-level units.

However there are other methods that you may want to try if you do not happen to have a head unit that has an auxiliary in feature with it. Below we look at some other ways in which you should be able to play your mp3 player in your car in the future.

Cassette Tape Adapter

This device is available for around $10 and can be found in most electronic stores. It provides you with an easy and straightforward method of hooking up an external device such as an mp3 player to your car stereo system. All you have to do is place the cassette tape in to the car's tape player and then attach the other end to the headphone or line out jack situated on your mp3 player.

However, there are a number of drawbacks to this method. Firstly you need to have cassette player in your car (which unfortunately is becoming much less common in more modern cars) and secondly you will often the sound quality is reduced.

FM Transmitter

This system will transmit an audio signal of the your mp3 player to a specified FM frequency when it is plugged into the FM transmitter. What happens is your FM stereo in your car is then able to pick up the sounds as if it was actually receiving a regular FM broadcast from a radio station.

So as you can see there are plenty of ways to answer the question how can I use my mp3 player in my car. All you need to decide is which one you feel best suits your particular needs.
